There was and is code to save these settings. It seems to work on Windows, Mac
and GTK3, but not with GTK2, seufz.
Trying to fix in repository.

Title:
Remember state of Overview and Grid between sessions in OpenGL preview

Status in Hugin:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
  Hello

Hugin does not remember the state of "View > Overview" and "View >
Grid" between sessions in the OpenGL editor, so every time I run Hugin
I have to hide those. Would be nice if it remembered the setting.
