The fast preview is quite useful BUT it is still buggy - it happens (not reproducibly but quite consistently) that it keeps reloading the images as soon as they change, and the fast preview becomes useless. I have then to restart hugin (linux x86_64). I am not sure tabbing the previews would solve this issue.
