I have a series of 9 bracketed images at 1 EV steps that align_image_stack failed on. The first image was so dark that few details were available for matching. The second image and the rest of the series was shifted almost completely out of the image, leaving me with an almost completely black image. I corrected this by changing the order to 4,3,5,2,6,1,7,0,8 in order to use the most likely correctly exposed image as the position base. There were a few issues with finding matching points farther down the series, when trying to find matches between 7,0 and 0,8.
After all that, my suggestion is to use the middle of the series as the location anchor instead of the first image inside of align_image_stack. The program assumes that the series will be sent in order, either light-to-dark or dark-to-light, because it compares each image to the one next in the list. The first image will be the one most likely to not match anything because it will be the extreme on one side or the other. It would make more sense to use the middle as the position base and let the extremities fall off if there is not good matching. -Peter --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hugin and other free panoramic software" group.
