You can use File -> Apply template to reuse the photo positions and 
lens settings from an existing project on a new set of photos.

This will be useful, James was planning on doing something similar 
via the GUI as part of his Summer of Code project.

Tom Sharpless is working on modifying autopano-sift-c to do this.  
Currently you can use a .pto project as input for autopano-sift-c to 
specify the initial image file names and lens parameters.  The 
intention is to make use of any position information to 
intelligently connect only photos that are likely to be connected.
