If you only look at the quality of the
generated seams, (almost) nothing has changed
between Enblend 3.2 and 4.0. So, Smartblend
should still be superior in this department.
I could dive into the technical details now, but
I don't think you are interested in where the
problems of Enblend are and why we did not come
up with a better seam-line generation for version
4.0.

Again focusing on the seam generation,
the latest Enblend has some bugs fixed. Thus,
you might be able to blend some images with 4.0
that came out e.g. with "black holes" in 3.2.
This is an improvement.
Moreover, the user can control the seam-line
generation in a much more detailed way in
Enblend-4.0. In particular, the following
options come into my mind
--coarse-mask=REDUCTION-FACTOR
Balance speed and level-of-detail
considered.
--smooth-difference=SMOOTHING-RADIUS
Balance fractal dimension of seam line
--mask-vectorize=SEGMENT-LENGTH
Control accuracy of seam-line
approximation to the initial masks.
--anneal=TEMPERATURE-REDUCTION-FACTOR:\
MAXIMUM-ENERGY:\
MINIMUM-ENERGY:\
MAXIMUM-NUMBER-OF-STEPS
Control the Simulated-Annealing
optimizer of strategy 1.
--dijkstra=SEARCH-RADIUS
Set the search radius for optimizer
strategy 2.
However, because of the different underlying
algorithms you may never arrive at the same
results with Enblend and Smartblend.

Chris
