Sorry which box should I check?  In the Stitcher tab I've checked "Merged
and blended panorama".  If I check Normal "Blended panorama" then hugin
tries to run:

nona  -z PACKBITS -r ldr -m TIFF_m -o test6 -i 0 test6.pto

And the output from that isn't hdr either.
