I also think that the mask feature is really great and time-saving! I've used the same tecnique for some photos and some time before I've also posted a tutorial on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cri_eyes/4372334315/
The only problem, already discussed, is that enblend refuses to assemble too many images that overlaps; sometimes I've to use enfuse instead.
