Hello!
I'm attempting to follow the instructions at <http://wiki.panotools.org/Hugin_Compiling_OSX
>.
End result:
Apparent "success" with the steps. Except then
"... you're finished. Look for the new bundle Hugin.app in usr/
local/Applications/ or in usr/local/bin/."
eh ... I have no /usr/local/Applications directory. There is no
Hugin.app in usr/local/bin/.
Comment: How would I know to look in either of those locations? Why
am I instructed to look in either of TWO directories? Surely this is
specified in some build/make file somewhere. Right? And does that
spec offer the option of "either/or??"
Plus, note that /usr is not a visible directory. Why would I want
Hugin installed in an normally invisible directory??
. . .
Instead, I find the newest Hugin.app on my computer is at
/Applications/hugin_build/src/hugin1/hugin/Hugin.app.
When I run that program I receive the error:
Fatal Error
xrc directory not found, hugin needs to be properly installed
Tried Path: /usr/local/share/hugin/xrc/
OK
No, it is not "OK"
And, hey, could y'all please do whatever necessary to make it possible
to SELECT the text in such error messages? Transcribing it from a
displayed window is tedious and prone to error.
Also, the error message is not what I would call "helpful." "hugin
needs to be properly installed" Oh excuse ME! I am so sorry. It is
entirely my fault :(
Sheesh. Now, would you please explain PRECISELY what you don't like,
how it might have come to be, and how I can fix it? [And by the way,
should not "hugin" be capitalized as "Hugin" ?]
"xrc directory not found" Why not? Why do you care? Where were you
looking? Why were you looking THERE? How can I change where you were
looking?
The only file I have in /usr/local/share is a directory named "man."
Why is Hugin looking *there* for hugin/xrc/ ?? Again, that must be a
setting that's defined somewhere, right? Please let us know where
that's being specified! And... any guesses why it is wrong in my case?
I DO see an xrc directory at /Applications/hugin_build/src/hugin1/
hugin/xrc. Hmm. Maybe if I somehow can manage to tell Hugin to look
*there* instead in /usr/local/share/hugin/xrc/ I might get it to work.
Uh... How can I tell Hugin to do that?? *should* I try to do that, or
is the problem elsewhere?
Hey Readers!
Feel free to choose *any* of my several problems/confusions and offer
suggestions!
Thanks,
eo
