I've also seen the same error, but only now that I've tried the assistant tab. 
I generally use the other tabs, since also drag-n-drop from iPhoto only works 
on the "Images" tab...

The last few panorama i've generated with the new release of hugin have been 
stitched using PTBatcher, which worked flawlessly. I can confirm though that 
stitching from hugin itself doesn't work anymore. I have the same problem that 
Rodney described:

of any help... From hugin stitching is broken, PTBatcher finishes fine.
