I'd like to change a googlegroups setting so that members can see
the members list. This page doesn't include email addresses, just
usernames.

Why, is there a benefit? I do not get what use case there is for
browsing a list of mailing list subscribers.

The list is a community. We also have some history with another panorama software list where a moderator abused their position by keeping things like this secret.

I am not strongly opposed, if you think it is for the best do it.
There is just a gut feeling telling me to not publish stuff unless
necessary.

I'm inclined to share everything unless there is an obvious reason not to.
