It certainly does this, or is supposed to. i.e. it treats the input and output data as unprofiled, then copies any profile from the first photo to the final output.
It could be modified to convert all photos to a universal colourspace on reading and to a specified colourspace when writing, but there has never been any request for this.
I consistently have to reassign the correct profile to the output file (using Harry's Mac OS X builds). Isn't exiftool supposed to do this job?
