My goal is to include the Hugin extensions. And then hugin is open to
use it or not.
For the time being the main goal is to use it to enhance the format
with a lens line
in panotools. I suspect that at some point hugin will want to read
that data too, but
we'll see. It is all experimental at this point.

So, recapitulating:

1. The current version of the parser can convert from hugin-pto to
panotools.txt (no more need to load the file in hugin and save it)
2. Goal #2 is to use the parser directly in PTmender and PToptimizar,
so it is possible to read PTO files directly.
3. Goal #3. We want to extend the panotools format with some lens
specific data, but we don't know where will that take us.

At this point we (Tom Sharpless nor I) are not proposing a change to
the PTO format; rather, we just want to be able to read it, and
at the same time, avoid having to modify the panotools parser (which is a pain).
