I am still quite a beginner but nevertheless have already submitted various panoramas under that were accepted http://www.360cities.net/profile/swbauerepfl, and I have even been granted the status “trusted user” such that my panoramas are now accepted without further review. Obviously, this is a great honor, but also an obligation to only submit good panoramas.
I have read somewhere that HUGIN will find itself pictures that are overlapping irrespective of the order in which they are submitted. When taking pictures I follow a scheme whereby I take a picture every 30 degrees, which gives 12 pictures for each level. The camera numbers the pictures chronologically and they are also entered into HUGIN in their chronological sequence. However, if for whatever reason once a picture is out of the order such that two pictures next to each other are not overlapping HUGIN stops and complains that there is no overlap. When I then renumber the pictures such that overlapping pictures are next to each other the problem is resolved. Then, when the next layer underneath comes then obviously, the last picture of the layer above does not overlap and HUGIN complains again. Comparing stitching points of pictures in one layer I am always amazed, how many points HUGIN finds, it really is just fantastic. However, when I look at pictures that are overlapping vertically, HUGIN appears to ignore these vertical overlaps in most cases. I am really disturbed by these two observations and right now I have been blocked for days in my stitching attempts with new panoramas. If someone could please help me I would be very happy. May be, there is only somewhere a tick mark that is missing? Summarizing, HUGIN and its philosophy behind it is just fantastic!
