Ah, well, you never actually said it was doing anything like that - I 
thought you were just mad that the offsets were in there.

At first glance, then, this sounds like GIMP has got it wrong. It should *
expand* the canvas to the top and left, not shift the image within the 
existing canvas.

And this page <http://docs.gimp.org/2.6/en/gimp-images-out.html> seems to 
confirm it:

*Unfortunately, PNG offset support in GIMP is broken*, or at least is not 
compatible with other applications, and has been for a long time.


As Bruno stated the default TIFF output *does *have offsets, but I've never 
seen any image editor honour them (nor would I really expect any to do so).
