When exposure optimisation misbehaves, then you need to try these, in order: reset to camera EXIF Eev values; if this is OK, then try just optimising Eev without any other photometric parameters; probably optimising color balance is safe at this point too. Vignetting calculation requires a large overlap between photos; similarly, response curve calculation requires heavy vignetting and/or variable exposures between shots.
