It would be helpful to at least provide your .pto file for your original project (the one which was unsuccessful). If you were able to also provide your original 5 images (via Dropbox or similar service) we might be able to get a clear idea of what is going on, so we can either point out what you can do to overcome the issue, or to decide if hugin has a bug.
