There are no changes in that area that I'm aware. We are still using wxExecute with some Hugin code to get the progress into the progress window. There is some Mac OS specific code before wxExecute (src/base_wx/MyExternalCmdExecDialog.cpp, line 206ff). Maybe that interferes with some changes to wxWidgets lateley?
