Hi Pepe,
Thanks for your email messages. It's good to hear from you
again! Speaking for the Hugs developers, we know that a lot
of Windows users prefer the GUI front-end, but we've also found
it very hard to maintain, and were not expecting to be able to
include it in future distributions. So it's great to know that
you are still working on the system, and making some significant
improvements!
| I hope you consider distributing the new version of the GUI as I think
| it is very usefull for windows users. I case you decide not to do
| it I would like to distribute it myself. I know that there are plans on
| building a new GUI using HEP, but I think that my current GUI can be
| useful meanwhile.
It would probably best for you to distribute the system yourself
because that will make it easiest for you to maintain, update and
change the distribution. We would, of course, put a link to it
on the web pages. If you prefer, I'm sure it would be possible
for you to get direct access to haskell.org so that the winhugs
distribution could be hosted (or mirrored) from their, instead of
taking up space on your own servers, etc...
As far as HEP goes, I think it would be great if your Winhugs
system were to become a client application. That way, a lot
of your code for the GUI could be retained, and Winhugs would
continue to be useful for both Hugs 98 and the new STG Hugs
system.
Thanks again, and best wishes,
Mark
