No, it wasn't 'zapped'.

It was just one bit faulty wiring.  Considering the amount of wiring
that has to be installed in that thing, pretty much untested until
switch-on, it's not surprising that glitches happen.

It takes months to cool-down/warm-up the equipment, and they have a
winter maintenance shutdown scheduled anyway.  Apparently this is to
save on the electricity cost in the peak demand season.  I wouldn't be
wanting to pay the winter electric bill for the LCH.

So anyway.  We won't be vanishing into a mini-black hole or turned
into 'strangelet soup' until spring.
