A nun of nature, recluse, hermitess who chooses to live in solitude.
That's a beautiful part of the world, but it is isolated as she says.
Still she has the phone, the internet, the trains, the meter reader,
her family......so she's not really cut off at all, she's deluding
herself. There's also the aspect of her not being able to cope with
people, though the utilities she enjoys in her solitude comes from the
rest of us. She's right though, too much silence can drive you mad.
How could one not live without music? She claims to have heard a hum
in the desert, well she would, you can hear it everywhere, even in the
London the antithesis of isolated south west Scotland. Do I envy her?
Yes I do, but I'd have to have an escape route from such isolation
every now and then, and a state of the art hi fi and my cd collection,
a 50" plasma and...................
