That sounds about right for the pest, Jackie. My feeling is, whatever the hum IS- it takes a certain type of person/situation to hear it enough to notice. Many have tried looking for the source or trying detect Hum in some way, but it s VERY elusive. If not too intrusive a reluctant acceptance can help- if more than this then 'white noise' generators [basically a hiss- like an off tune radio] or a fan running can mask the LF hum.Ear plugs may help a bit if it audio based but I don't like the feel of them much and Hum usually gets through, anyway.. For some the Hum can end for a long time as Pete on here will testify. Used to be quite bad for him, in London. Bear with it a while- at least you know you have company. Quite a lot of activity is picking up with Broadband over Power Lines being brought in and challenged- but Hum is older than that specific technology in the UK, I believe- though Vic can correct on that.
