For some odd reason, after playing the first all the others and my system 
sound went off!- I thought 'must be good stuff' :) 
Back now and I'm not sure why it went. 
My post is just to answer Barry on the wave files:  
Far too high and musical for my hum-but the  background character had a 
familiar ring to it. 
The unstable variability of VLF seemed common to both my classic low drone 
and these samples,anyway. 
Probably co-incidence, but not to say that a common factor isn't/couldn't 
be involved.
