I suffer from bipolar disorder. I started to feel my body vibrating since around 2010 and started to hear the low frequency hum since 2014. Most of what is described in this forum is exactly what I hear and feel.
At first I thought that these phenomenons were just symptoms of my illness (a kind of auditory hallucinations). But the sound I was hearing at night did not sound at all like the usual "hearing of voices" that comes with acute psychotic episodes. Yes I sometimes hear imaginary sounds, but these are very different from this persistent low frequency sound that comes and goes following a day/night cycle, and that is very irregular in pattern. I believe some mental illness sufferers have developped extra sensitivities, especially to sound. In my case, I only hear the hum when I am in a manic phase, when all my senses are wide open to stimuli. Eventually my whole body starts vibrating (especially legs and skull) and I have to shake it or run outside the house to get some relief. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Hum Sufferers" group.
