The map below clearly busts the myth of the "Red Corridor".
True, the map, apparently based on the report submitted, about two years back 
in April 2008, by the committee appointed by the Planning Commission in 2006 
and headed by D Bandopadhyay, is slightly outdated; it does not include West 
Medinipur (and also Bankura and Purulia) in West Bengal, where Lalgarh is 
situated (and, on the other hand, includes e.g. Gondia in Mahrashtra and also 
districts in the northern part of Chhattisgarh etc.).
But what comes out clearly that there is no continuous "corridor" from the 
South extending to Nepal. Not even anything remotely resembling that. There are 
two distinct large clusters and (much) smaller patches strewn somewhat in 
between. Just a manufactured paranoia to justify draconian actions against 
myriad militant democratic popular struggles. And the Maoists themselves lapped 
it up for too obvious reasons.
