The recently retired Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court Justice A.P.Shah
who was formerly the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court has specifically
referred to the problem of casteism even in the Madras High Court .It is clear
that none of the political parties in Madras despite claiming to stand for
social reform have not seriously addressed the issue even 60 years after the
adoption of the Constitution of India and most political parties all over India
by and large draw up electoral lists on the basis of the caste composition
of constituencies and money power, not on the capacity or contribution of the
candidate .
There are claims of India emerging as an economic power when millions live
below the poverty line , when caste or region is the immediate identity of
majority of the people by virtue of which they belong or do not belong , when
lawyers from the Muslim minority community are brutally assassinated in Mumbai
and Karnataka for representing innocent citizens of the minority community who
were framed up in false cases by covert agencies ,in alliance with foreign
agencies to divert attention from policy issues , to divide and rule even
though most people oppose the criminality of these covert agencies ; where
women are denied the most basic social freedom by fundamentalist and self
serving organizations of all religious groups, including the Khap Panchayats
in rural India near New Delhi who kill those exercising their constitional
right to intercaste and intereligious marriages , right next to the capital
city of the country , with no authority in a position to prevent it or punish
the murderers and when despite anti-terrorist departments of the police
bombs are deliberately planted all over the country to increase the religious
divide and whole communities are referred to as " Jehadi " and terrorist ,
when fake organizations are used to frame up innocent Muslims from the poorer
classes , even though the government of India and the corporate sector has no
qualms about commercial relations and trade dealings with so called " Jehadi"
countries that is those populated by Muslims and there is a large population of
Indians who work in the Middle East whose people are referrred to as terrorist
and Jehadi countries since their Oil resources are targeted by Imperial powers
.This is the hypocrisy of Indian society and the elite .
All this is happening even as the Indian diaspora grows all over the world,
where they do not identiy themselves on the basis of religion and caste as
they are aware that they will be despised ,this toxic combination is reserved
for the motherland so that Indian NEVER EMERGES FROM DARKNESS OF SOCIAL
DEGRADATION AND DESCENT INTO CRIMINILIZATION .

Casteists Attack Arunthathiyar (Dalit) who sits beside Upper Caste Men
in the Public Carrier
Mathipalayam is a village situated in Thenkarai panhcayat of
Thondamuthur union in Coimbatore district of Tamilnadu. There are 82 Dalit
families and more than 300 upper caste people’s families inhabiting the
Mathipalayam village. As usual every where in India Mathipalayam is no
exemption to the caste discrimination by upper caste people towards Dalit
Arunthathiyars. They are subject to all subjugations in day to day life living
a life of humiliation under the unwritten caste codes.
Palanichamy, a coolie farm worker sends his son P. Karuppusamy (18) to
painting job works as he is unable to send his son to school. Kauppusamy has
been making a livelihood by attending painging job works for the past three
years. On 10 – 02 – 2010 he attended a job work in Coimbatore and was on his
way back home in a government town bus. He was, first standing in the over
crowded bus. When a seat was vaant he sat in that seat beside Sakthivel who
belongs to upper caste. The age-old caste discrimination started to function in
the bus once Karuppusamy sat near the upper caste man Sakthivel. Sakthivel and
his companions Rajkumar, Nandhakumar, Devaraj and Gokul Prasad had instantly
reacted to Karuppusamy’s daring act by abusing him with caste-based curses
(Sakkili dog, how daring you are to sit beside a Gounder caste man!) and filthy
words and manhandled him mercilesly in the bus.
Due to uppercaste men’s violence and threat in the public carrier Dalit
man Karuppusamy boarded down the bus and went home swiftly. Even then, the
uppercaste men had entered Dalit colony and was attacked him again. Karuppusamy
was severly injured in this vandalism unveiled by upper caste men and admitted
in the Coimbatore government hospital. A complaint was lodged with police about
this caste atrocity in the Perur Police Station, which went in vein. The police
did not move even a pebble against the upper caste people who applied violence
on Dalit person. So more than 500 AMMK people picketed the vehicles on the road
and persuaded the police to register a case against the offenders under the
SC/ST Prevention of Atrocity Act, 1989 (Crime No. 83 / 2010 u/s 147 , 341, 323,
506 (i) IPC r/w 3(1) (X) of SC/ST Prevention of Atrocity Act, Rules 1995,
Perur Police Station, Coimbatore District, Dt: 11 – 02 – 2010.) Though a case
is registered, the offenders have not, yet, been arrested.
The Indian Express news clipping(date-19-2-2010) is attached along with
this mail.
This incident tells us that Arunthathiyar people are unable to sit
equally and travel equally in public carriers even after 60 years of Indian
freedom. This raises a question strongly: “How long should we permit this
situation to exist in our lifesphere?”.
