*Announcements of the Books Published
*
Institute for Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution (IPSCR) is involved in
publishing peace material which promotes peace and communal harmony. We
would like to announce the publications of two books revolving around the
topics of peace and harmony which will be a step forward in spreading
awareness and advocacy. The following are the two books with their details:

1. Book one:
Title:
Deconstructing Communalism in India: Striving for Harmony
Author:
     Ram Puniyani
Description:
This book traces communalism to pre independence India and takes the
reader through an insightful journey of communalism pre independence to the
situation in present India. This critical analysis of communalism also
covers a gamut of discussions and debates on terrorism, pluralism and the
role of RSS and Hindu mahasabha. However the significance of the book is
that it draws up sharp linkages between the communalism and the oppression
of the vulnerable groups of the society like the dalits, indigenous people,
minorities like Christians and women. Thus the book explains how communalism
is an over arching hegemonic ideology which seeks to undermine the rights of
these groups and overall harmony in the society.

Book two:
Title:
      Heritage of Harmony
Author:
Father T.C Roy
Description:
This book is primarily focuses on mysticism and how it can lead to social
harmony in society, promoting pluralism. This is illustrated by citing
example of the Bhakti movement which was a movement opposing Brahminical
Hinduism. The author then further seeks to examine and explain the
contribution of the Bhakti saints in South India (Nayanmars) and Central and
North India (Alvars) in the medieval times. The book also throws light on
the contribution of women in the Bhakti movement, thereby trying to
visibilize the female face of Hindu Mysticism in India. Thus the book neatly
traces the Bhakti movement from the medieval times and later times and its
contribution to the harmony in India
