Friends, I am dragging you back to an old subjected which many might have forgotten. I traveled to Kudaku to meet the prosecution witnesses in Madani case. Prabhakar,Yoganand and Rafeeq are the three witnesses who gave the testimony that they have seen Madani in the place with Naseer. Among the three,Yoganand and Prabhakar are BJP activists. I took the interview of K K Yoganand and Rafeeq.Both of them disclosed that they have seen Madani only in Television.Yoganand saw him in person for the first time when Madani was brought to Kodaku for staging the whole drama of 'evidence collection. I have talked to a number of BJP people (including LSG members)and other villagers,none of them has seen Madani. The Police is now engaged in the process of making me a terrorist.The Kannada news papers have carried stories of ' the suspicious visit of a group of Muslims'.Reports also say that the Police has registered a case against me for 'intimidating the witnesses'.So far I have not received any official communication. This is a great learning! See how well the democracy functions!! ----------------------- Another update from her Due to space constraints,I have not written the whole chilling stories shared by Rafeeq.He is a 28 year old youth who had worked in Lakkeri estate when Nazeer had ginger cultivation there.It was roughly in a period between 2005-2006.After Naseer being caught,Rafeeq was taken into custody and kept in the terror cell of Madivala police station for 15 days. He was tortured like any thing as I explain in the story.He was released and they dropped him back in Kudaku,he was totally cluless on the why part of the entire episode.He did not have any idea on why he was picked up and tortured.He knew nothing about Naseer apart from that he was doing ginger cultivation in the estate.Rafeeq told me ‘If you come here and do cultivation and call me to work,I will come,I am surviving on it,How could I know whether you are a terrorist or not..” After a few months he was again called by the police.This time they demanded to give testimony against Madani.Rafeeq refused and he was threatened. He was forced to give statement against Madani. “Other wise they would have booked me too,I had no choice,but since then I had been burning with guilt..”Says Rafeeq. This is a usual story of hundred and thousands of ‘witnesses’ designed by the investigating agencies.The most shocking part is that the police has designed the entire drama in a way to keep Madani as un under trail for a few more years. Rafeeq told me that when he warned the police that he might not be able to defend his position during cross examination,they told him not to worry as it may take 5/6 years.
