*Rashtriaya Sadbhavana Yatra*


Mr. Yugal Kishore Sharan Shastri of ‘Ayodhya ki Awaj’ has taken the
intuitive to organize the Sadbhavana (Harmony) yatra (March) from Ayodhya to
Sevagram from 10th December 2010. Preceding the Yatra on 9th September a
meeting on Communal Harmony was organized in Fiazabad. Teesta Setalvad,
Mazhar Husain, Maulana Nomani, Yugal Kishore Sharan Shastri and Ram Puniyani
addressed the meeting and called upon the people to promote communal harmony
and national integration in the society. Most of the speakers criticized the
Ayodhya verdict of 2010, and called upon the society to propagate for a
judgment which is based on the values of Indian Constitution.

The yatra first came to Sultanpur where Sanjay Singh and friends welcomed
the yatra. A meeting was organized amongst the students to talk about the
values of national integration. Further the entourage reached Allahabad
where the Azadi bachao Vidyalay welcome the peace activists. A series of
meetings were organized in Allahabad by Dr. Banwarilal Sharma of the Azadi
Bachao Andolan. In the first meeting the academics and activists discussed
the issues related to threat to Indian Constitution. The meeting felt that
we need to intensify efforts to reach the message of peace to broad layers
of society, especially the youth and students. In another meeting with the
students associated with film club of the Vidyalaya Ram Puniyani gave the
brief history of communalism in India, the values of freedom movement, the
truth behind misconceptions of the society and the need to enhance the
values of Indian Constitution and to oppose the hate generated by Religion
based nationalism.

In another meeting with the leaders of Muslim community, the impact of
communal politics on the lives of minorities was discussed and it was
resolved that minorities should join the secular and democratic forces to
ensure the dignity and equity of the minorities. It was felt that there is a
need to further take the message of peace to different layers of society.

The yatra further went to Chitrakoot and Satana. It will terminate at
Sevagram on 18th December. Various organizations have endorsed the effort,
these include All India Secular Forum, Cova, ASHA, NAPM, Center for Study of
Society and Secularism and Nirman Foundation.
