Sharing a couple of incidents:

The Convention today (Jan 19) organised by AISA in Delhi Univ for Binayak is
a great success with some 500 students from DU, JNU, Jamia. To begin with
the univ authorities tried to deny permission, and then ABVP tried to
disrupt it but were chased away, and the sheer presence of such large
numbers ensured that the programme was held without any further hurdles from
any quarter. As I write, it is in full swing.

In Odisha, the day after the Raipur Sessions court verdict came out, the
CPI(ML) Liberation there issued a statement against it. The next day, police
swarmed into the party state office (Nagbhushan Bhawan, near Bhubaneswar
station). When Comrade Khitish Biswal arrived and demanded why they had
forced their way into the office, he was asked why a statement had been
issued against the verdict! The police were eventually forced to leave
without any further action, but it was obvious they sought to intimidate and
silence anyone questioning the verdict. Ranjana is right, even to question
the verdict or to question draconian laws and speak of the rights of
political prisoners etc is 'seditious'...

About the 30th prog in Delhi, I am a bit worried as it seems to clash with
another march against corruption organised by friendly forces. The strength
is bound to be divided for both the events.
