* We strongly condemn the murder of Niyamat Ali Ansari, which is an attempt to silence the voices against corruption and all those who are working to expose the irregularities in the implementation of government act and schemes like MGNREGA, RTI, ICDS, etc. Moreover, these killings further expose the nexus between Maoists, contractors, administration and corrupt political leaders.*
* * *The Sub-zonal committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) has owned the responsibility of the killing giving the reason that Niyamat was a police informer and involved in the cutting of forests on a large scale. The Maoists have alleged that Niyamat and his friend Bhukan were involved in the corruption and collection of money from villagers. These are baselss allegations and CPI (Maoist) ,they need to apologise and explain this heinous crime* * * * Niyamat Ansari, who was resident of Kope Gram Panchayat (Manika Bloack), has been working tirelessly for the rights of NREGA workers and exposed many farauds in this area during the last few years. On 20 February 2011, Niyamat and his friends exposed a case of brazen embezzlement of NREGA funds in Rankikala Gram Panchayat. In response to this report, an FIR was lodged against the main culprit, Kailash Sahu, former BDO of Manika.
