Is time US realized that middle east is changing , for the better or worse , we still do not know . But the post WWII arrangements of controlling the cheap oil & letting Israel do whatever it wants & financing the same will sure see an early end.
Could see some real democracy coming in in some of the Arab countries now in ferment . Others may fall into the fundamentalist grip like Iran still is in , after the removal of US backed corrupt despot the Shah. For sure the new Middle East will not be the one where US bribe-aid will be sufficient keep an Eqypt off the back of Israel m the governments could be more answerable to people . Israel will need to get more humble & realistic . The suppression of West Bank could see an end. US companies many not be able to continue their have a virtual hold on Saudi & Kuwaiti oil & the cozy situation where their companies got the major civil contracts , sold to the King expensive fighter planes they have no need for .
