In a month's time, social activist Niyamat Ansari becomes a forgotten soul!

Does any one remember Niyamat Ansari, the social activist and the
blue-eyed boy of the National Advisory Committee member Jean Dreze who
was beaten to death in Latehar district on March 2?

After the initial hue and cry, this social activist is a forgotten
man. There came officers, top officers from Delhi and Ranchi. Every
one visited the bereaved family. For more than two weeks, Ansari's
house at Jeruwa village was the new address of pilgrimage here.

It was the Latehar administration, both civil and police that bore the
hue and cry with patience and showed no sign of cracking up. The
administration did what it could to save the family from hunger and
shock. Food, shelter, medicine, cash, irrigation all came for them.

But in this great chaos of human tragedy, the question is why Ansari
was killed. Who are the people who made him fight like a Knight in
Arms? Ansari was a victim of over enthusiasm said a social activist
here who pleaded anonymity saying 'any activism beyond a certain limit
is bound to have such a fallout as the system is rotting and stemming
it is just too great a risk."

Should a social activist sit like a duck, a mute witness to the orgy
of corruption? This activist said, "A social activist should also not
throw all caution and safety to wind to lose his life." People who
projected him should now own his family and children for a future not
so bright.

When Lalit Mehta another social activist was killed in the year 2008,
his death had rocked the nation. Here is the case of Ansari forgotten
in just a month's time. This is no plea for any social stir to be
launched for the dead Ansari, but a plain question as to where are the
people who when Ansari was alive and kicking bolstered Ansari to take
up cudgels against one and all asked this social activist with great
pain.

Ansari’s killing be investigated in a larger perspective. Was Ansari
fed on heroism of exposure that led to his tragic end of his life?
