Dear all, Greetings! Jharkhand, is witnessing massive evictions in Jamshedpur, Danbad, Ranchi and Bokaro. The High court have ordered removal of encroachments in all these areas. It has warned the state government that it will impose a fine of Rs 1 lakh fine on the state government for each day for delay in removing the encroachment which created obstruction in the completion of the Adityapur Toll Bridge for connecting two industrial townships-Jamshedpur and Adityapur. The people have been protesting against the evictions and the state is witnessing protests from hawkers, slum dwellers etc. The government is not providing any rehabilitation or compensation to the residents. There has been firing in Ranchi and the situation there is tense... I am also pasting some links on the evictions in Jharkhand.
