The brutal repression and firing in Ratnagiri and adjacent areas,
including inside the homes of peaceful protestors against the nuclear
plant and innocent bystanders , is not the first firing which has taken
place in the region ,holly unjustified and is prima facie evidence that despite
claims made, policy making is not a consultative or democratic process,
in particular when a prior decision has been taken to appease the global
Nuclear

Private Power Plant Companies and the governments touting for the sale of
these reactors on behalf of these companies , despite the world wide concern
following Fukushima and the imminent possibility of other reactors in Japan
being similarly affected ; such proposals need to be carefully examined from
one Plant to another to eliminate the possibility of such disasters as the
clock of
lethal radiation exposure cannot be turned back or the environment and ecology
restoredover an extensive period of time . At the same time the assessment
should
be objective and not opposition for the sake of opposing development .

Whereas the Shiv Sena which was responsible for initially welcoming
the Plant has now for covert reasons performed the role of agent
provocateur for political objectives in respect of what was hitherto a
genuine
peoples movement and entirely peaceful , a source of considerable discomfort
to
those touting for the plant and the intermediaries ,which raised several
questions as
the Areva Reactor admittedly is untested , the region for the establishment of
the
Plant is a Seismic Zone, a highly ecologically sensitive regionof rich
biodiversity
primarily agricultural ,with a thriving fishing industry similar to the region
in and around
Fukushima with rice fields ,mango and cashew plantations dotting the entire
region .
It is being argued that the site is not low lying however the fact that it is a
Seismic
Zone is an input which cannot be wished away .

It is reported that the estimated costs of the setting up of the plant and the
rate at which electricity is to be supplied makes the entire exercise
economically
not viable and that it is being pursued primarily in pursuance of a prior
agreement
to accept these Nuclear Reactors from the France , the United States and Russia
without an in depth consideration .

The fact that the Konkan region has soil and rock structure which is
unstable should also be a cause for concern .As of now the issue is
if those who are advancing the Power Plant are satisfied about its
viability and safety whereas is the necessity to shut out the debate
and the agitation .The debate could have been advanced by programs
on TV , in the newspapers or by circulation by the government of
pamphlets advocating the point of view of policy makers.
which could have been met by a similar campaign to educate
citizens by those who are opposed to the power plant who have
all along conducted a remarkable campaign to educated local
villages.

Repressive police measures are resorted to by colonial or neo-colonial
governments in the control of Corporate Houses , not be governments claiming
to be elected by the people . Those in the affected Zone of Nuclear Power Plants
have a right to be heard not once but a hundred times as they will directly pay
the price if things go wrong not those safely ensconced in Metropolitan Centres.

What Private Energy Companies including Oil Companies have done
to the world is a grim story by itself from Latin America , to Africa , to
Asia
where they have dumped their inferior technology and unleashed Wars for the
brown , black and yellow people , the Nuclear Power Companies are no less
dangerous and PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW THE CONSEQUENCES OF
THE TECHNOLOGY WHICH THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO LIVE
WITH WHETHER IT IS ACCEPTABLE OR NOT BEFORE THEY DECIDE .

Those who can order the book " The Open Veins of Latin America " should do
so it is an apocalyptic account of the Mineral and Oil companies and the
devastation and genocide in Latin America .
