A correction the 10th paragraph of my communication below
should read " Right to Information Act"
not " Right to Information Bill ."

Apologies for not editing communications as often
they are written in a hurry , with urgency .

Subject: THE ARROGANCE OF POLICY MAKERS ON THE ENERGY FRONT IN RESPECT OF
JAITAPUR NOT JUSTIFIED IN THE CONTEXT OF ENRON 'S DABHOL PLANT AND ITS
CONSEQUENCES AT ONE TIME DISMISSED IN THE SAME MANNER AS THE QUESTIONS RAISED
IN RESPECT OF JAITAPUR

The arrogance in respect of the decision making
in respect of the Jaitapur Plant and the severe repression
unleashed to placate the lobbyists of Private Nuclear Power
Companies dumping reactors in India , recalls the agitation
against the Enron Dabhol Power Plant and the stand of the
Union of India and the State of Maharashtra very similar to
the postures being adopted to-day .At the relevant time the
Shiv Sena had played a similar role, join the movement and then
agree to be intermediaries and thereafter subvert the
movement or act as agent provocateurs to unleash violence
through selected cadres to enable the government to discredit
the movement, thereby assisting the global companies .

The Union of India and the State of Maharashtra had similarly
touted the case for Enron which was proved to be a bubble company with
no little or no experience on the Energy front created the same
hype in respect of shortage of power .What is the reality ??????
The CEO of Enron committed suicide in the aftermath of the disclosures .

The government of France is openly invading countries to further the cause
of its Oil Companies among other Energy Companies evidence of the
  state of desperation .

There is no answer till date forthcoming to the fact that the reactor is
untested
and the region is in a Seismic Zone of rare biodiversity .

It was made clear by an activist from the region that the Shiv Sena
representative in the
Union Cabinet was also responsible for the decision apart from the
involvement of
Congress-NCP .This time round the names of individuals and political parties
who
are supporting the Jaitapur Plant be drawn up so that in the eventuality of a
disaster
they are taken straight to the site of the Plant for the rescue operations
and are personally
accountable for the decision making just as those who took the decision for
Enron should
also have been held personally liable due to the excessive interest taken in
the
establishment of this project despite several questions having been raised by
activists and peoples movements similarly attempted to be silenced .

The fact that firing has been resorted to intimidate the opposition to the
movement
which is very widespread in the region indicates that the lobbies of the
global
Private Nuclear Power Companies fear that more questions are being raised
every
day even after the capping issue was sought to be diverted by signing an
International
Convention dictated to by the governments who are touting for these Companies
despite
the legislation passed by the Indian Parliament raising questions as to where
does
sovereignty reside ???????In India or where the headquarters of the MNCs are
located ????

Why are the Private Nuclear Power Companies so keen on capping their
liability in the eventuality of a disaster and therefore an International
Convention in an attempt to circumvent national legislation and Judgments
of Sovereign Courts though the juridical principle is clear
that damages payable is always in proportion to the harm caused .

The right to what kind of development rests first and last with people not
with an oligarchy in the Atomic Energy Agency and elsewhere touting various
interests and who have not answered questions being raised and do not
  reside in the region .

Scientists who support this must go to the region and answer questions
on the Areva Reactor and the Seismic Zone among other questions.
The communication of Mr.Jairam Ramesh read out on the channel
Times Now that strategic and foreign policy issues are involved is
not an answer and raises even more questions on Jaitapur .

The People have a right to know that is what the principle behind the
Right to Information Bill is all about .Adequate information has not
been disseminated and once again after Fukushima several questions
have been raised which are required to be answered to those agitating
in the region unless we are now an Authoritarian or Police State .

Or have we become a Banana Republic where Companies use state
armed police to put down democratic movements and agitations
against what they perceive to be harmful to their life and livelihood
and the possibility of genetic damage to humans , vegetation and
marine life ?????? Remember what happened in Latin America
that is the region where the term " Banana Republic " emerged from
it was Company Raj like the East India Company was in colonial
  India .

Does the Planet exist for the Companies or are the Companies only
an instrument or a means ??????
