Dear All

If i sent the wrong message that I uphold violence that was not my intention
nor that of the people i spoke to.

But intention was that we need to organise the oppressed, deepen democracy,
developed paradigms amd ways of living  from oppressed point of view in our
respective countries and come together at south asian level.

Dear All

the message coming out from people i met in SL obviously non supporters of the
present govt, is to bring perpetrators of ethnic cleansing to book. A report by
X is coming out on youtube soon, when it comes out they want us to publicize it
widely in India in every corner.

Drop petty issues like justice for Nalini or glorification of Prabhakar. In
their eyes those are not the real issues.

The real issue is bringing those who did ethnic cleansing in the final stage to
book, those who raped ethnic tamil women to book using UN resolution 1325, ask
for police/army to be tamilians in that area, devolve governance and budget,
basic services and needs to be met, land rights with women's name and clearing
of landmines, allow free entry into that area, free press etc.  They want to
bring unity amongst different tamil groups, some are
on the present govt side as well. They want unity with Muslims- who consider
themselves as non tamils, though speak tamil.

Pakistan is siding with present govt because of LTTE's, for whatever reason,
making Muslims leave Jaffna. China, Russia and Cuba are supporting the present
govt. they want communist parties to rally and put pressure on these countries
in India. They want something like what happened in Nepal to happen in South
Asia. The political astuteness of people met was amazing- those who could speak
less English were sharper.

They want India with them, deepening of democracy in Sri lanka and South Asian
unity and trade, and keep all other COUNTRIES out. Justice, freedom of speech,
devolution of powers, equity, deepening of democracy and peace is what they
want- they want MNCs out. Very sharp and clear in thinking.

They do not want Indians to go abroad and speak on sri lankan issues, but act
in India. No
need for training NGOs here. They know what to do, and what they want. Not to
divide Muslim and ethnic Tamil NGOs when they come for training in TN- it
creates more problems back home. Some Tamil ngos are on present govt side, and
some on opposition side. Tamil Nadu has got a bad name because of all the local
politics.

Will i step again there? Not till the present govt. is brought to book. IT IS
THE DUTY OF EACH CITIZEN IN INDIA TO STAND UP FOR WHAT HAPPENED AND FOR ISSUES
THAT ARE REAL

I have not experienced as much fear as I experienced after my speech

while i have been talking about human rights violations in
india, nothing parallels the slience on situation in SL by govt and
all in a conferecne, and the fear I felt when all
i spoke was on violations in india, bangaldesh, moldova
cleansing in rwanda and the need for justice as a paradigm.for
sutainable development, governance, peace, preventing disasters and
climate change and inter-faith spirituality rooted in justice. The
message went and the policing was immense. including who visited
        me

At the airport knowing i am on my way out i feel secure.

        Dear Editor:
Today June 8th is World Ocean's day
Creation of artificial national territories on rights to fishing in
oceans within certain distance from shore creates conflicts between
nations, and declaring that above certain nautical miles the ocean
belongs to international community creates unfettered harvesting of
fish
        seedlings including during off seasons
(www.telegraph.co.uk/.../Extract-from-Chapter-10-of-The-Unnatural-History-
of-the-Sea.html). Are these conflicts not a human made creation?
Trawlers and nets which destroy fish spawns should be banned. Let us
demand that coastal/marine resources are given back to people
