In mass movements as in elections people put their trust in the person . No one goes for details. No voter reads the party manifesto .
Anna represents an idea " the end to arrogance of power" that was lying around for some time for our army of activists , assorted do- gooders , the newly minted smarty pants , a few grandsons of the original activist the Mahatma etc. could have it taken up . He never applied for the job...the people & Anna selected each other. We have been seeing the worst of the system lately with killing of over a dozen RTI activists & whistle blowers , the persecution of the police officers of those who dare expose Modi , same fate awaited Binayak Sen till the SC intervened ...people who oppose the system get the full brunt of the "world's biggest democracy" in an "encounter" . Surely nothing like this happens to most Indians in their daily lives as we have learnt to tuck our tails between our legs as desired by the authority or grease the palms when necessary. We know exactly the choices we have and the limits we should not cross. In the last two weeks we got some of our mojo back . A miracle of sorts many will say. Anna too has had a wild ride till date ...innumerable cases & inquires thrust on him , even a "supari" was financed . A man fighting corruption was attempted to be branded as corrupt by the maha corrupt system' keepers . Nothing new here . Baba Ram Dev with his crores in following could not sustain for very long. A sure sign than Anna's stature has only grown by the day & gotten stronger with every battle... means he has what it takes. Fake voice tapes have been tried out by Amar Singh & Co against Ann's team including a real estate transaction or two , plenty of direct mudslinging by Tiwari & Digvijay , seems even a mole planting by a Kapil we do not yet fully know. The BJP says Anna stole the corruption idea from them , Anna has many more ideas ...and am sure is open to any one stealing them from him . Let the best person show the way. People have the right to protest , pressurize the government for laws they want .
