1. There is always a conflict of interest for the people when corporates & politicians gang up , rather a congruence of interests of the corporates & politicians when corporates donate to political parties , there has to be a quid pro-quo involved. .
2. There is also a very obvious & inverse relation ship between the "Index of Economic Freedom" http://www.heritage.org/index/Ranking " & "Corruption Perception Index". http://www.transparency.org/policy_research/surveys_indices/cpi/2010/results . Most of the clean countries rank high on business freedom. The relationship is logical , if business is not dependent on the politicians , it need not pay them . In India a file that goes quite a few hands finally to be signed by minster becomes a very valuable peace of paper worth thousands of crores , a policy change a la 2G , a mine or forest to be exploited , a piece of land to be developed , both parties know it and it is in their mutual interest to co-operate & share the loot. 3. The Anna formula of right to recall & right to reject is designed to kill the politician business nexus completely as will shift the candidate's winnablity factor from money & muscle to "a good candidate who remains accountable to the voters for the full term " . Form lording over us arrogantly as they do today , they will discover the true meaning of humility & selfless public service again. However the system will not give up ground that easily. Just as Anna's JLP Bill wants political & bureaucratic corruption where corporates are their main collaboators & the major source of corruption funds thru policy changes , grants of licenses , permissions , awards of contracts , government purchases , tenders etc. to be investigated by one set of laws & preferably one agency nationally & in states , confiscation of assets , recovery of loot and punishment of 5 years to life within 2 years for the corrupt ; & is facing innumerable attacks from all sides , mostly on the people & the movement , very little of it on the real issue of graft its self ; including quite a few NGOs & fellow civil society , the right to recall & reject will also see equally fierce resistance from the vested interests & many a concealed attacks by the very same anti- people gang. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "humanrights movement" group.
