The police officer Sanjeev Bhatt's arrest in the context of the pending
petition in
the Supreme Court and the affidavits filed, is prima facie mala fide and amounts
to contempt of court in view of the notice issued by the Supreme Court in the
pending petition where these facts are impugned ; in sucha case an order
should have been immediately obtained from the Supreme Court against
victimization .
The remand application of the State administration was rejected, however it
should
have been immediately followed by a bail order .The case needs to be monitored
constantly and continuously and the apprehension expressed by his wife that
anything
can happen to him must be taken seriously .This case cannot be prima facie
tried
in Gujarat like some other cases which had to be moved out .
All urgent steps be taken so that honest officials do not conclude that there
is no one to stand up for them if they speak up when people are at the
receiving end
of criminality .In fact the real reason why it has taken so long for the truth
to emerge
is the victimization to which police officials who spoke up were subject in
Gujarat
and that continues.

Dear friends,
we need to respond immediately and loudly to the arbitrary and
unconstitutional arrest of Sanjeev Bhatt by the Modi regime. Do you think we
could hold a citizens' dharna to be organized jointly by all democratic and
progressive groups in Delhi on 3rd Oct (Monday) in the afternoon, at Gujarat
Bhawan,or some other appropriate place in Delhi ??
Please respond soonest.
In solidarity,
Mahtab
