Dear Mr. Dunu Roy, Thanks for your query. Let me clarify that PUCL has not invited Mr. Nilekani to deliver next Tarkunde Memorial Lecture. There was some organisational goof up between the Tarkunde Memorial Committee and the PUCL that PUCL's name was added as co-host in the invitation letter announcing the lecture without knowledge of the PUCL office bearers.. PUCL was not involved at all in the choice of the speaker and when PUCL office bearers came to know of this, they have raised the issue with the Tarkunde Memorial Committee (TMC) and TMC has remedied the matter by withdrawing the name of PUCL as co-host. PUCL has also issued a statement clarifying that it was never assoicated with or involved in the process of selection or inviting Mr. Nilekani. When PUCL was not involved or associated with the event, the question of dissociation or withdrawal does not arise. I hope this should remove misunderstanding, if any. I request you to circulate this of my mail to others on your mailing list so that misgiving about PUCL position, if any, is removed. With warm regards, N.D.Pancholi --- On Mon, 11/19/12, Dunu Roy <[email protected]> wrote: >From: Dunu Roy <[email protected]> >Subject: >To: [email protected] >Cc: [email protected], "Rajindar Sachar (Justice)" <[email protected]>, >"Rajindar Sachar" <[email protected]>, "Suresh V" <[email protected]>, "Sinha >Prabhakar" <[email protected]>, "Mahi Pal Singh" ><[email protected]>, "Chitaranjan Singh" <[email protected]>, >"binayak sen" <[email protected]>, "Sanjay Parikh" ><[email protected]>, "ravikiran jain" ><[email protected]>, "Ritu Priya" <[email protected]> >Date: Monday, November 19, 2012, 9:44 PM > > >Dear Pancholiji, >I have been given to understand that PUCL is inviting Nandini Nilekani to >deliver the next Justice Tarkunde Memorial address. If this is true it is certainly regrettable because it would legitimise a range of neo-liberal steps that this government is taking to deny the people, particularly the poor, their entitlements and rights. I do hope PUCL will reconsider its position and withdraw the attention. >Warm regards >Dunu Roy Clarification about PUCL's position on choice of speaker forTarkunde >M.Lecture -- Mahi Pal Singh Secretary, PUCL National Mobile: 9312206414 -- PUCL National Office: 270-A, Ground Floor, Patpar Ganj, Mayur Vihar-I, Delhi-110091 Ph. 011-22750014 Website: www.pucl.org -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "humanrights movement" group.
