A Founder member of many organisations and institutions, Dr. Hussain started COVA – a network of around 700 organisations working on issues of Communal Harmony and Community Empowerment in India and peace in South Asia. Dr. Hussain conceived and coordinated numerous Campaigns for Peace in the Sub-continent and is presently working on setting up The Center for Peoples Foreign Policy in South Asia and the International Center for Applied Peace Studies. He has coordinated and supervised National and International Research Projects and has produced and directed two documentaries on the Freedom Movement of India and the lakes and water bodies of Hyderabad. He has visited over 45 countries to participate in nearly a hundred international conferences and seminars. Dr. Hussain serves /has served on the Boards of National and International organisations. Currently he is a member of the Steering Committee of the Planning Commission of India for the XII Five Year Plan, Board of State Bank of Hyderabad, Task Force on Social Exclusion of the HRD Ministry, GO-NGO Coordination Committee, Government of Andhra Pradesh, WNTA amongst others.
