Dear friends and comrades,

On 19th May, around 1500 people had come from different parts of Haryana and
adjoining places to Kaithal to extend solidarity to the workers of Maruti who
have been sitting on an indefinite dharna since 24th March, 2013. A curfew was
enforced in Kaithal from the previous evening in order to stop this mass dharna
from taking place. The town was heavily deployed with police and CID forces, in
order to obstruct the entry of outsiders into Kaithal. braving all odds,
between 1000-1500 people, including workers, workers families and activists
marched into Kaithal and sat on a dharna.

At 6.30pm, without any warning, the stationed police force started a brutal
lathi-charge and tear gas and water cannons were unleashed mercilessly on the
protestors, which included in large majority, women, children and old men.
Hundreds were seriously injured and admitted to the hospital. The police came
with a second round of lathi-charge when people were still in a state of shock.

Join Joint Demonstration and Gherao of the Shram Shakthi Bhavan on May 24 at 2
PM.

We shall meet at the Patel Chowk Metro station and March to the Shram Shakti
Bhavan to collectively express our anger and outrage at the arbitrary arrests
of 97 workers and 3 activists on 18 night and the brutal lathicharge leashed
out on workers and families on May 19 at Kaithal.

The Maruti Suzuki Workers Union needs the support of all democratic and
progressive forces to demand the following:

1. Quashing of the heavy charges on 11 workers and others arrested  in Kaithal
on May 19.
2. Release of all workers and supporters arrested in Kaithal.
3. Release of all 147 workers in jail since July last year and withdrawal of
non-bailable arrest warrants on 66 workers.

4. Reinstatement of all 2300 terminated workers.
5. Implementation of all labour laws and abolition of the contract labour
system in Maruti Suzuki Ltd, the entire NCR region and across Haryana.

Long live workers struggle!

Please join and forward widely!
