Dear all,
The Centre for Equity Studies is undertaking a project to prepare the National Exclusion Report. The National Exclusion Report is envisioned as an annual, widely collaborative effort, involving a number of institutions and individuals working on the issues of disadvantaged and excluded communities in India. Other collaborating organisations include the Centre for Policy Research (CPR), Centre for Social Equity and Inclusion (CSEI), NLU Delhi , Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (CBGA), Brown University, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA). As part of the Report, the Centre for Equity Studies (CES) and NLU Delhi are taking on the task of documenting the socio-economic profile of India's death row prisoners. The Ministry of Home Affairs estimates there are 477 prisoners currently on death row in India and our task is to document the socio-economic profile of death row prisoners using a wide variety of strategies. The work will necessarily involve travelling to different parts of the country where such prisoners are being held and interviewing them , their families and lawyers. We will of course ensure you are equipped to do such work by working closely with death penalty experts and organisations/ individuals familiar with conducting interviews in such sensitive situations. The period of the internship is from June to August with a minimum of a month's commitment and you will be required to work full time.and be willing to travel as and when required. Applications are welcome for the same and students from a Social Sciences background are encouraged to apply. Individuals from other backgrounds are also welcome . Please send your CVs to [email protected] and [email protected] with the subject " Death Penalty Study Internship application" .
