Solidarity Committee, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh*
On Wednesday 30th July Israel in its airstrikes and tank shells took lives
of more than 30 people and injuring over 150 at a time when People, mostly
women and kids were in crowded Gaza shopping area and at Jabalya refugee
camp in a UN school where some 3,300 Palestinians, including many women and
children, were taking refuge in the school. Heavily armed and
technologically developed Israeli army is bombing a virtually unarmed
population in Gaza.
So far 1035 Palestinians reported to have been killed since beginning of
Israel’s offensive on Gaza, 236 of them are children, 93 of them women, and
47 of them elderly. It is estimated that 80 percent of the dead are
civilians.
The eye witnesses described the scene as: *“The area now is like a blood
bath, everyone is wounded or killed. People lost their limbs and were
screaming for help.”*
*UNRWA Commissioner General, Mr. Pierre Krahenbuhl condemned in strongest
possible terms the serious violation of International Law by Israeli
Forces. Further he said that there are no words to adequately express his
anger and indignation. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned that
attack and said he was appalled by the bombardment of a U.N.-designated
shelter.*
It is time for UN to take exemplary action against Israel and not just
issue meaningless statements. This is nothing but a massacre- a heinous
crime of Israel against humanity.
We people of conscience explicitly condemn the genocidal Israeli invasion
of Gaza. We demand an immediate end to the Zionist war offensive. We appeal
to people all over the world to initiate civilian boycott of Israel at all
levels economic, academic, social and cultural. We further urge all Nations
world over to break all diplomatic and economic ties with Israel, cancel
all trade agreements, close down their embassies/consulates and recall
their ambassadors from Israel.
