demand social services ( which is not only entitlement but a social wages
for all the working class groups who have worked to build this city and
country and thus is is their right ) for all . on August 14th ( on the ever
of independence day) at 4 PM. *
*This is being organised by all the groups invloved in jagnyacha hakka che
andolan as a part of the Freedom Week collective demonstration and protest
across maharashtra between 9th august 2014 - Quit India Day till August
15 - Independence day . *
Jaganyachya Hakkache Andolan ('Movement for the Right to Live') A
comprehensive movement for social services and social security
*Education, Health care, Food security, Domestic water and sanitation,
Employment security, Pension and Local public transport - these are all
people's basic rights. Provision of these services and forms of social
security is the undeniable responsibility of the state. We consider all of
these to be a part of the 'social wage' of working people. By social wage
we mean certain services and social security which the government must
provide to all people in form of universal entitlements. Of course various
sections of working people, in both organised and unorganised sector, earn
their wages or livelihood in various forms. But combined with this is
'social wage' which is a universal right. After the Second World War, as
part of the so- called 'welfare **state', working people in developed
countries achieved such social wages as a right through many struggles. In
India also, as one of the fruits of the Independence struggle, some
provisions for social services were created which have become available to
people to certain extent. We strongly affirm that in order to ensure equal
opportunities for all, and to eliminate poverty and inequities, the state
is responsible to provide these services as part of its core constitutional
responsibilities. These social services and social security are a form of
universal social wages, which must not only be recognised as basic rights,
but should also be significantly expanded. *
*Our basic demands *
- * Universalize the quality education from KG to PG*

*Nutritious food including grain, dal, oil , sugar , fuel for all without
any targeting *
- *Quality health services for all*
- *Universalism pension for all senior citizens *
- * Provide affordable housing for all *

*Water life ensure safe drinking water and domestic use water for all *
- *Ensure substantial increase in public spending on social services and
social security.*

*All forms of targeting and constriction of entitlements to social services
must be terminated immediately, and all entitlements must be made
universal. *

*Stop all forms of privatisation, contractualisation and weakening of the
public systems which provide social services. *
