This 5 day workshop will be held at Sambhaavnaa Institute (Himachal) from 8th to 12th March 2017. The workshop will be facilitated by Sanjoy Ganguly & the Janasanskriti team (www.janasanskriti.org) who have several years of experience working with “Theatre of the Oppressed” amongst communities and activists. *Who is this workshop for?* The workshop is for activists associated with movements and community based organisations. Activists with atleast 3 years experience in community organising and mobilizing preferably comfortable in Hindi and interested in working using creative participatory processes like theater, can participate. *Objective:* The approach is to use participatory theatre methodology to facilitate a process of : – Learning deconstruction & critical thinking – Identifying and framing the right question and social & political issues – democratizing the intellectual space through dialogue – exploring theatre as an art for democracy & democratic change *Why we are doing this workshop*? – Activists/ Community mobilisers feel the need to self reflect, identify their own prejudices, internal contradictions – Activists/Community mobilisers find it difficult to understand & raise structural and complex issues with communities – Activists struggle with democratising the change process within the community in the absence of creative dialogue methods *Participant Contribution* The contribution per participant towards lodging-boarding for the 5 day workshop is of Rs. 1500/-. We would encourage two to four people from the same organisation to apply. If there are more number of participants we could discuss the possibility of a partial waiver depending on the need.
