I play the basic Phoenix model and like it quite well. I consider it a very
good instrument for a beginner-to-intermediate player. It is very reliable
(for a gurdy), very adjustable, and compact and durable for travel. Turnaround
on my order was very fast; of course that was 3 years ago, but when you reach
Helmut, I'd ask about that. I also found him very helpful in all regards.

As regards one instrument for two pretty dissimilar purposes, I think you
may possibly find yourself wanting a second instrument later. But gurdies are
expensive, so you might want to focus on what you need most now. I'd think the
band would be more tolerant of the Da Vinci than the re-enactment people
will be of the Abraxas. So you might want to get the Da Vinci first (maybe get
a
pickup jack discreetly hidden somewhere!). But I haven't played either model,
so I have no first hand experience with them.

Oh dear, I hope he's just on holiday :\
Anyway, thank you everyone for the quick answers: now I'm pretty sure
the mail have done their job, and I'll just wait patiently (and
control my euphoria :D ).

Any thoughts about the two Phoenix models?

Massimo.
