Hello: After many years of silent desire, I approached a hurdy gurdy maker and asked for an instrument. That was the Fall of 2007: now my instrument is finished and even as I write this is on it's way. (here's a link that Helmut Seibert put on his website of the modern looking design he made for me http://www.saitenklang.de/asymetra_kaiser.htm ).
Anyway: I live in Pittsburgh, PA and wonder if there are any players around who would be willing to talk me through some of the beginner tasks to get happily playing? I also often find myself in Washington DC visiting friends and family, so if there's someone down there, it would be great to meet up. Alternately, I attend Pennsic where I've sat in on several hurdy gurdy workshops, and hope to be able to participate more this coming year.
