michael...

i missed this post but i really liked it. it just made me feel real good
reading it...

i agree no form of music can abide snobbishness. and i have always really
disliked the categories we put music into. i play what i hear and like. i try
to stay away from other peoples concepts of what should or should not be played
on the hurdy gurdy but i am always interested in something new. i have been
known to really "folk up" a classic... *L* and other tunes too come to think of
it. my playing is for my enjoyment and when it touches someone that is a
bonus... but then of course it isnt my sole means of income.

although i can not answer your ending question i would say this. there is
nothing that could take music away from me... i think it is more inside the
soul... i wake up every morning with some melody running through my head i can
hear it with "my minds ear" in any key or any instrument?

peace... i hope you find a place to plant your vegetables..
