Wow, didn't know anybody would know about that yet.

I am currently making some final changes to my dissertation (some typo 
corrections, replacing some graphics where I don't have clear usage rights, 
etc.) and will submit the final draft some time next week. At that point I'll 
post a copy at a downloadable link for any who are interested in reading it. 
Because this list is a public forum with an indefinite shelf life and any link 
I'd post would be listed on it for the foreseeable future (even if I move the 
file), I'd rather not post the link to the list directly, but anyone who'd like 
to read the dissertation is welcome to send me an email and I'll provide the 
link in private.

I'll warn you in advance that the dissertation isn't really about the 
instruments, but rather about a theory of how the scholarly study of musical 
instruments should be approached, using those two instruments as examples. Some 
may find it a bit dry if you aren't into that sort of thing. That said, there 
is a lot of information about the instruments and their use in it, so one could 
profitably cherry-pick from it.
